As a classically trained artist, plein air painting and painting from life has always been part of my practice. Two years ago I returned to painting after a 5 year break. In that time I started a family with three wonderful kids. Prior to having children I spoke with many professional artists to see how they juggled it. Their advice to me was to find a way to work fast. I tried drawing during my time off, but missed the brush so I moved to acrylics, a fast drying medium. To learn acrylics, I went back to the basics, working from life - plein air. That was about two years ago when I first joined PAPJC. Working outside with acrylic has forced me to make paintings much faster then my previous works. I love the outdoors and the social aspect of plein air. It's a natural fit for me. I'm woking my way back to being a full time professional artist.
