To be an artist had always been my ambition. After many delays, I was finally able to get back to my art. My first forays into art were in still life, figure and portrait. Landscape was last on my list. After joining the PAPJC when it first began, I’ve come to enjoy and appreciate plein air painting. Now I look forward to spending time outdoors painting. After high school, I attended the Harris Advertising School of Art in Nashville, Tenn. Mid year, my father was transferred to Germany. Several months later, the family followed. Since money was tight, I went to work for the Army in Berlin for a year. During that time, I saved what I could to go to Munich to the Kunste Academe. From there, I attended the Stuttgart Art Academy, which was closer to where the family was living. After marriage, I pursued art classes whenever possible with: Helen Van Wyke, Philip Karmel, Mary Sheean, Ann Kobayashi, Scott Nickerson, Nancy Gawron, and in Brookedale College. I also took workshops with: Bob Gerbracht, Alan Flattman, Frank Zucharelli, Lucille Geiser, Tony Ventura, Edith Pletzner, Lian Quan Zhen, Timothy Thies, Kristy Kutch, Peggi Kroll Robert, Scott Wittcom,Richard McKinley and Stan Sperlak.

I am an Exhibiting member of the Guild of Creative Art, Shrewsbury, NJ, where I’ve been a member for approximately forty years. I’m also a general member of the Pastel Society of New Jersey. Other groups: Somerset Run Art Group, and the Pastelist Salon of New Jersey.

At the present time, I’m teaching Pastel and Sumi-e at the Guild of Creative Art, as well as proctoring the Figure Drawing and Painting workshop I’ve also conducted workshops at the Jane Law Art Gallery on Long Beach Island Demonstrations in both Sumi-e and Pastel were given in Whiting Artists Association, Ocean County Art Assoc., Monmouth County Art Group and the Trenton Art Museum. I am listed in the Encyclopedia of Sumi-e and Who’s Who in American Sumi-e Brush Painting Artists. Local papers have also done feature articles on me.
